Author FAQ
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to write books?
Yvette answers your FAQs here!
Where do you get your ideas from?
I get my ideas from just about everywhere! Places, people and objects all inspire me. My most recent book was inspired by one of my own personal heroes, the teenage activist Greta Thunberg. Some days in the last couple of years, I began to wonder…what would Greta do? How can I take action? I also wanted to create my own hero who was Armenian-Australian and had a family just like mine.
What advice would you give young writers?
Carry a notebook. Record voice memos with good ideas. Draw pictures to tell your stories. Just get them down!
Have you met Greta Thunberg?
I have not met Greta! One day…
There were some fantastic books I found (check in the back of my book for more info) already written about Greta. And of course, I follow her on social media, too!
How did you first get published?
I wrote a food blog called 52 Terrines. I attempted to create a terrine for each week of the year (terrines are a French type of food - Google it!). It was good practice for writing regularly.
Where does your surname come from? Is it your real name?
My real name appears on all my books. I’m very proud of my Armenian surname. Did you know that all Armenian names end in ‘-ian’? I’m sure you can think of some very famous Armenians! Most of my friends call me Posh, though.
What’s next?
Dear Greta is about to be released in March 2022! I also am still writing the Ella and Olivia books, too. I just finished a fun Ella and Olivia project. And I’m already working on another project, so watch this space!
